LIOR Pupillometry Inc. proudly congratulates CEO Jason Benaim on receiving the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal, recognizing more than 20 years of outstanding service in paramedicine.

The medal is a national honour, and one of the highest forms of recognition a Canadian emergency services professional can receive. It is awarded for exemplary service sustained over an entire career — a record measured not in announcements, but in thousands of calls answered and people helped.

The honour was celebrated at the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs’ 2026 gathering in Niagara Falls, where Jason was recognized by the leadership of the province’s paramedic services — the peers who know the work best — and by the people closest to him: his wife, Melissa, and his son, Aiden.

“It’s been an incredible privilege to spend my career helping people, often during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Not everyone gets to do a job where every day presents an opportunity to make a real difference. That’s something I’ve never taken for granted, and it continues to inspire the work we’re doing at LIOR.”

That two-decade perspective is exactly what LIOR is built on. Jason saw the need for objective pupil assessment firsthand, as a critical care paramedic — a neurological judgment call made in the field, in seconds, with nothing more than a penlight. This medal recognizes the service that insight came from.

Congratulations, Jason. Your dedication, compassion, and leadership continue to inspire everyone at LIOR.
